FAQ
1. How long does shipping take?
Processing: 1-3 business days (pedals, wheels); 3-7 business days (mountain bikes). Shipping: 5-10 days for small items; bikes via freight: 7-20 business days. You'll receive tracking via email.
2. What are shipping costs?
Calculated at checkout based on weight/destination. Mountain bikes have separate freight charges. Free standard shipping on qualifying orders.
3. Do you ship outside the contiguous US?
Currently, only to the contiguous 48 states.
4. Do items require assembly?
-
Mountain Bikes: Yes, require assembly (attaching handlebars, pedals, front wheel, seat). Instructions and tools included. Often requires two people. We recommend professional assembly for safety.
-
Foot Pedals: Yes, require installation onto crank arms. May require pedal wrench.
-
Wheels: Yes, require installation onto frame/fork. Requires proper quick-release or thru-axle tightening.
5. What types of mountain bikes do you offer?
We offer mountain bikes for ages 13+. All our bicycles comply with 16 CFR Part 1512 – the CPSC mandatory safety standard for bicycles. This regulation establishes requirements for assembly, braking, protrusions, structural integrity, and reflectors to improve bicycle safety. Bicycles that fail any of these requirements are banned under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act.
6. What are the key requirements of 16 CFR Part 1512?
-
Braking system: Bicycles must be equipped with front- and rear-wheel brakes or rear-wheel brakes only. Stopping distance must meet specified requirements.
-
Reflectors: Bicycles must have a colorless front reflector, recessed colorless or amber reflectors on the back and front sides of the pedals (see §1512.16), and a red reflector on the rear. Sidewalk bicycles (seat height ≤25 inches) have alternative requirements.
-
Labeling: Permanent label affixed to the frame with manufacturer name and month/year of manufacture. The label must be securely affixed so that it cannot be removed without being defaced or destroyed.
-
Sharp edges: Sheared metal edges must be rolled or finished to remove burrs or feathering.
-
Instructions: Instruction manual attached or included with assembly, operation, safety, and maintenance instructions.
7. What types of foot pedals do you offer?
We offer platform pedals and clipless pedals. All pedals sold with new bicycles must meet the reflector requirements of §1512.16. Pedals sold as aftermarket components must not create a hazardous sharp edge or point and must comply with general CPSC safety requirements (16 CFR Part 1500).
8. What types of wheels do you offer?
We offer complete wheel assemblies for mountain bikes. Wheels must meet the structural integrity requirements of 16 CFR Part 1512.11 (Requirements for wheels). Aftermarket wheels are not required to have reflectors, but aftermarket wheel reflectors for bicycle wheels must be permanently affixed or attached per CPSC guidance.
9. Do your mountain bikes require a General Certificate of Conformity (GCC)?
Yes. Bicycles are general-use products (unless designed for children 12 and under). Under the Consumer Product Safety Act (CPSA), we provide a General Certificate of Conformity (GCC) certifying compliance with 16 CFR Part 1512 for all our bicycles.
10. Do children's bicycles require a Children's Product Certificate (CPC)?
Yes. For bicycles intended for children 12 and under, we provide a Children's Product Certificate (CPC) based on third-party testing at a CPSC-accepted laboratory, certifying compliance with:
-
16 CFR Part 1512 (bicycle safety standard)
-
CPSIA lead (<100 ppm for accessible parts) and phthalates (<0.1%)
-
16 CFR Part 1130 tracking labels (manufacturer name, production date, batch number, country of origin) on both product and packaging
11. Do your bicycle lights (if included) comply with FCC regulations?
Yes. If our mountain bikes come with bicycle lights (or if we sell lights separately), all lights comply with FCC Part 15. Lights with wireless modules (Bluetooth, RF) require FCC ID certification and must bear an FCC ID permanently printed on the product and packaging.
12. What are the lead and phthalate requirements for bicycles?
Under CPSIA, the Bicycle Product Suppliers Association was excluded from lead content limits under Section 101(b)(1) of CPSIA. Phthalates content limit does not apply to inaccessible parts. However, for any accessible components on children's bicycles (designed for riders 12 and under), we comply with lead (<100 ppm) and phthalates (<0.1%) requirements.
13. What is the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act?
We comply with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. § 2301 et seq.) , which broadly prohibits companies from conditioning a consumer product warranty or denying coverage simply because you used aftermarket or recycled parts, unless the manufacturer can prove that the aftermarket part caused the problem requiring repair.
14. What is California Proposition 65?
Some products may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm (e.g., lead in brass components, phthalates in grips). When applicable, a Proposition 65 warning will be displayed on product pages and packaging.
15. How do I care for my mountain bike?
-
Inspect brakes, tire pressure, and reflectors before each ride.
-
Lubricate chain every 100-200 miles.
-
Check pedal reflectors for damage (required for legal operation at night).
